For 2011- 2013 The Mental Health Law Centre has received annual grants from the Mental Health Commission WA towards rental assistance, and short term contracts for additional staff and an expanded telephone advice service primarily aimed towards increasing legal representation rates at Mental Health Review Board hearings, which review the involuntary status of people with a mental illness who are subject to the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1996 (WA).
Lotterywest WA has been a significant supporter of The Mental Health Law Centre, with their most recent grant to the Centre in 2010 and 2011 to assist us with two office relocations within 14 months, and replacement of our server and computers, and provision of office furniture.
For 2013-2015 the Mental Health Law Centre is receiving the support from City Toyota by servicing our two office cars free of charge. The cars are used by the legal staff every day to travel to all the courts and psychiatric hospitals, and education presentations. This support permits the Centre minimise the costs of car maintenance and apply more of our limited funds to the Centre’s service delivery. Thank you to City Toyota.
